The top bar actually consists two dzen instances and trayer. I am afraid there are no beautiful way to make dzen spawn where you want, other than by calculating all the positions. The position of each of the instances is determined relatively to the dimensions of the current screen, and the bar is duplicated to all screens (except that there can only exist one copy of trayer).

By far one of the nicest xmonad configs that I have seen, nice work!
Some questions: you're using dzen for the bar on the top, right? How do you integrate trayer to it? You simply spawn it at an absolute position?

Hi, I am not sure that I understand your question. Could you please elaborate?

When using Prism, external links should be opened in your default browser.
Also, Chrome has a command called "Create Application Shortcut".
I have not tried it, but you might be able to get a similar behavior using it instead of prism.

Regards, Mads

Hey Mads,

Thank you for such a great little script.

I've recently taken to use Chrome as my default/first choice of browser. I've not been able to modify prism to work with the Chromium window.

Do you have any suggestions?

Ok, so I take the input and pipe it manually to dzen2:
- with version 0.8.5: the input is truncated...
- with the svn version (rev 297): no problem.
Conclusion: I should have updated before reporting. ;-)

Thanks...

I have no problem displaying icons for more than nine windows (but the pager gets slow to update, as the query results are not cached -- this in on my todo list). What do you get in ~/.xsession-errors if you change the line that says
<code>mapM_ (\pipe -> dynamicLogString (myPP host) >>= io . hPutStrLn pipe) pipes</code>
to
<code>mapM_ (\pipe -> dynamicLogString (myPP host) >>= io . putStrLn) pipes</code>
e.g. redirecting the input to dzen to stdout?

Good job

With your default config files (image paths changed)
When there are several windows (>9), the icons aren't displayed by dzen anymore.
I've not yet figured out why... Are you experencing the same problem?

Hi Sam, and thanks for the feedback... Nautilus use many of its own widgets and these require special treatment. In Nautilus, my bindings only work for List View (the one selected by ctrl+2). To make the other views work, you need to find out the names and supported signals of the widgets in the source code. You can address a specific widget in two ways. If it has its own class you can use the class name, otherwise you must specify its path. For instance, in Nautilus the location entry has its own class, but the search entry is just a plain GtkEntry:

<code>binding "nautilus-entry"
{
    bind "Return"   {
                      "activate"   ()
                      "move-focus" (tab-backward)
                      "move-focus" (tab-forward)
                    }
}
class "NautilusLocationEntry" binding "nautilus-entry"
widget_class "*NautilusSearchBar*GtkEntry" binding "nautilus-entry"</code>

This will focus the icon widget when you search or enter a path.

If emelfm2 uses the a GtkTreeView, you should be able to select multiple elements by adding a binding that contains shift or control - look at my example of GtkTreeView bindings. Otherwise you might also need to read the emelfm2 source code to see which signals the widget supports.
